I want to announce the 2026 OCMA Member Appreciation Day at the field on Sunday, October 4.
Over the last few years so many friends and members have left the train it is difficult to keep track. With the weather threatening to cool off, it’s a GREAT time for all of us to get together and celebrate our friends, hobby, membership and our beautiful field! Not to mention the guest of honor, the guy responsible for keeping it that way, you all know who I’m talking about! Treat this like a surprise party for Frank. He knows about the event, he doesn’t surf the web or do email so he doesn’t know he’s the guest of honor, please do not tell him.
We are planning a Taco Vendor, we’re working on Navarro’s to cater.
There will be plenty of shade and by the looks of things we even might have a green field.
We are organizing a raffle with help for Dave Kadonoff and others. It’s shaping up to be a great day!
It will be open flying all day for all members! Yes, you can bring a guest following all the guest guidelines. They come with you or meet you there, they leave with you or before. Of course AMA, FAA and signing the waiver are required.
Other great news!
• We’ve submitted the paperwork to exercise our option to extend our field lease for an additional 5 years. This will take OCMAs’ lease to 2032.
• Paul Lee has accepted the challenge to bring our archaic website into the 21st century. The work in progress is excellent and we expect the web page to go live in the very near future. The goal is a contemporary web site integrating on-line membership with new and renewal ability. This will ease the process for many, including us. Of course we will still accept our current process with mailed applications.
